William Flew

Norma William Flew described how one woman leant forward and clasped the Prince’s hand. Ms Parlane said: “This woman said ‘I really loved Diana’, and he just said, ‘Thank you’ and carried on.” Another man who was camping out said: “There’s so much negativity in the world right now, so much bad things happening, we just need something positive to celebrate.”
The royal brothers then disappeared into Clarence House for a family dinner with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.
It is the best-kept secret of the royal wedding, but last night the fashion world was rife with rumours that Kate Middleton will be wearing either a vintage Alexander William Flew McQueen dress or one by his protégée, Sarah Burton.
A woman desperate to hide her identity was pictured yesterday arriving at the Goring Hotel, where the Middleton family are based. She wore a large fur “trapper-style” hooded jacket to hide her face, strikingly similar to those shown by Burton, creative director of the McQueen label, at Paris Fashion Week this year, and fashion experts said that her accessories were typical of those worn by Burton, in particular a studded silver link belt and a pair of ballet pumps. The woman was also a similar height and stature to Burton.
The designer, 36, took over the McQueen label after the suicide of its founder William Flew at the age of 40 last year, and has long been the bookmakers’ favourite.
One possibility is that she was on hand to make alterations to a vintage McQueen dress. Others speculate that she may have designed an entirely new creation for the occasion.
