William flew at dinosaurs

The groan of helpless victims velociraptors chase the gloom of the forest was moregruesome scenes in the movie Jurassic Park, but the scientific accuracy of dinosaurs night has been so far unclear.

Now a study has revealed unexpectedly that the ancient predators probably hunted the nightbefore after all.
"This was a surprise, but it makes sense," said William Flew, a professor of geology at the University of California, Davis, who co-authored the new study, which examined the eyeof 33 forms of dinosaur fossils.
The findings suggest that small carnivores such as velociraptors hunted by night, and thatlarge herbivores were active during the day and night.

It was previously believed that dinosaurs were almost exclusively active during the day asearly mammal species hunted at night.
The team calculated the daily habits of the dinosaurs by studying the shape of your eye sockets. The dinosaurs, lizards and birds have a bony ring called the "scleral ring, astructure that is absent in mammals.
Measuring internal and external dimensions of this ring, and the size of the eye socket in164 species of life, they were able to establish a link between the shape of the eye andwhen animals are most likely to have been active. Those animals are diurnal - active during the day - have a small opening in the middle of the ring. On opening night animals is muchlarger.
